Yoga for Sports

Yoga practice can complement all forms of exercise – the practice encourages good body mechanics, joint mobility, muscle flexibility /strength/
relaxation. It is an excellent ‘cross training’ exercise.  Because the practice focuses so much on alignment and precision of body position it helps to prevent common sports injuries that usually come from muscle imbalances and mis-alignments.

The practice of yoga helps develop mental focus, clarity and concentration.  For the sports person the ability to stay mentally calm and focused is the key to maintaining a higher state of flow and better all round performance.  Breath training affects energy levels, develops lung capacity and increases stamina and endurance for the sports person in their sporting activity.

Yoga practice is an excellent recovery practice for the sports person, relieving joint stiffness and muscle tightness and increasing flexibility and resilence in muscles.
